Culinary Assistant – Room Service

Under close supervision and in accordance with established policies, the Culinary Assistant prepares and sets up meal service, serves customers, and assists in the breakdown and cleanup of service areas. Duties include receiving, picking up, and/or delivering food items and supplies; stocking shelves and beverage refrigerators; operating dishroom equipment; cleaning equipment; and performing other miscellaneous duties as required.

• Operate dishroom equipment and ensure proper washing, organization, and storage of all dishes, trays, pots, pans, and utensils.
• Sweep and mop floors, freezers, and coolers as needed.
• Empty trash containers and remove trash to compactor as required.
• Assist in receiving food items and supplies, stocking shelves and beverage refrigerators, and delivering items to various off‑premises locations.
• Maintain a positive, customer‑focused environment; greet and respond to all customer needs.
• Receive cash payments, make change, and operate the POS system for food sales.
• Assist in cleaning, restocking, and serving customers.
• Balance cash drawer, prepare cashier reports, pre‑set register, and secure change from office safe.
• Demonstrate respect, courtesy, and professionalism to all patients, guests, and associates.
• Follow and comply with all mandatory sanitation policies and procedures.
• Communicate customer feedback and service goals to the director and supervisors.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years of food service experience.
• Serve Safe certification required.
• Ability to lift, move, and load materials and to perform heavy scrubbing; substantial physical effort required.
• Strong professional communication skills; frequent contact with others.
• Compliance with all company, departmental, state, federal, and local regulations and codes.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and acceptable driving record for delivering food and supplies.
• Knowledge of DNV and TJC accreditation standards may be required for annual education.
