Position: Assistant/Associate Professor of Civil Engineering (Teaching-Track)

George Fox University – Civil Engineering – Faculty – Assistant Professor – August 2025

George Fox University announces a full-time, teaching-track (non-tenure) faculty position in Civil Engineering to begin in August 2025. Applicants must be able to teach a broad range of undergraduate civil engineering courses, with priority given to expertise in geotechnical, construction, and/or transportation engineering. The successful candidate will also engage in professional activities, supervise internships, advise students, and carry out other faculty responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses in areas such as geotechnical engineering, transportation engineering, construction management, surveying, AutoCAD/Civil3D, engineering economics, senior design, mechanics of materials, and fluid mechanics.
  • Develop and sustain industry and professional relationships, applied projects, and internship experiences for undergraduates.
  • Participate in departmental and university activities, including committees as needed.
  • Communicate effectively and courteously with colleagues, students, and the public.
  • Model Christian behavior in all interactions.
  • Work cross culturally with respect, appreciation, and humility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field plus professional experience in civil engineering.
  • Excellence in teaching.
  • A commitment to the University's Theology of Racial and Ethnic Diversity.
  • A desire to work with a diverse community of students and employees.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and Christian testimony in a church. Employees must live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the Statement of Faith.
Preferred Attributes
  • A registered professional engineer in civil engineering.
  • College-level teaching experience.
Salary and Rank
  • Appointment at the Assistant Professor level; candidates with significant teaching experience may be considered for Associate Professor rank. Salary and benefits are competitive.
