About the Job:

This job is a full-time, 11-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, serving as the Academic Fieldwork Coordinator (AFWC) for George Fox University’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) program. The AFWC will play a vital leadership role in the development, coordination, and administration of the program’s fieldwork education, ensuring compliance with the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) requirements.

This faculty position includes responsibilities in teaching, student advisement, service, and scholarship, with the primary focus on managing the clinical education component of the OTD curriculum. The AFWC will also contribute to the design and delivery of OTD courses and collaborate closely with the Doctoral Capstone Coordinator. This position reports directly to the OTD Program Director and offers the opportunity to shape a dynamic program grounded in the mission and values of George Fox University.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Participating in the planning and coordination of clinical education functions.
  • Providing clinical education site development through ongoing evaluation and assessment of strengths and areas for development (e.g., in-service training, discontinuing student placements) as approved by the Program Directors.
  • Assessing student performance, monitoring student progress, and providing timely feedback.
  • Serving as university liaison in community and/or professional activities.
  • Communicating between the academic institution, affiliated clinical education sites, and all concerned stakeholders.
  • Placing, supervising, and communicating with students while on clinical experiences, and providing guidance and support as needed to problem-solve and discuss pertinent issues.
  • Evaluating each clinical education site through student feedback, on-site visits, and ongoing communications, and routinely sharing this information with academic faculty.
  • Attending AFWC meetings and local consortium meetings.
  • Maintaining procedures for clinical site selection, utilization, and assessment.
  • Maintaining an adequate number of clinical education sites relative to the quality, quantity, and diversity of learning experiences to meet the educational needs of students, the philosophy and outcomes of the program, and ACOTE evaluative criteria.
  • Coordinating or participating in the development of clinical education faculty.
  • Analyzing the clinical education and doctoral capstone experiential component/residency program academic outcomes for compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Communicating appropriately with faculty and program directors regarding student and curriculum information.
  • Managing and teaching OTD courses, and engaging in scholarship and service activities for the institution.
  • Demonstrating professional skills and interactions that support the mission and vision of the OTD program and the university.
