Assistant Professor, George Fox Honors Program
George Fox University announces a full‑time tenure track faculty position in the George Fox Honors Program, to begin in August 2026. The Honors Program offers a Great Books course of study that serves as a selective core curriculum track within the university. Most courses in the program are part of a historical sequence from the ancient world to the 21st century, typically co‑taught by two professors in a Socratic discussion seminar mode.

- Teaching 24 credits per year – 18 credits of seminars within the Honors program, and 6 credits outside of Honors.
- Participating in the broader academic life of the university and normal tenure review process.
- Developing and sustaining an ongoing program of relevant scholarship.
- Contributing service to the Honors program, specifically student engagement, academic and spiritual mentoring, and recruitment, as well as serving on university committees as needed.
- Potential for teaching reduction for taking on additional administrative duties within the program.
- Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
- By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
- Demonstrated experience working cross‑culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Ph.D. in a humanities discipline. We are interested in candidates with wide‑ranging academic interests.
- Applicants who are ABD in a Ph.D. program are also encouraged to apply, but must have earned a Ph.D. by the time of appointment.
- Experience and/or interest in student engagement, spiritual formation, and recruitment.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
- A commitment to the University's Theology of Racial and Ethnic Diversity.
- A desire to work with a diverse community of students and employees who represent various cultures, backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, political views, and expressions of Christian faith.
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express [their] Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
- Experience with Great Books education and teaching.
- Appointment at the Assistant Professor level is anticipated, though candidates with significant teaching experience at previous institutions may be considered for appointment at the rank of Associate Professor. Salary and benefits are competitive with comparable institutions.
