Peer Support Specialist – Providence
Join the Providence behavioral health team as a Peer Support Specialist.
The Peer Support Specialist will be an essential part of the Behavioral Health Team. Provides telephonic and in person support and assistance with connection to outpatient behavioral health, substance use and other community services to patients who have recently discharged from the hospital. The peer support specialist may work remotely, in the hospital, clinic, in the community, the patient’s home and/or telephonically or wherever the patient will need support.
Connects people served with available community services while promoting the use of natural supports and existing community relationships.

Required Qualifications- Within 30 days of hire: THW Certification in the state of Oregon as a peer in one of the following: PSS:
Peer Support Specialist – Adult Mental Health, Adult Addiction, Family Support, Youth Support - PWS:
Peer Wellness Specialist – Adult Mental Health, Adult Addiction, Family Support, Youth Support - Driving may be necessary as part of this role. Caregivers are required to comply with all state laws and requirements for driving. Caregivers will be expected to provide proof of driver license and auto insurance upon request.
- Upon hire:
In compliance with company policy and state regulations, a Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check may be required. - Within 30 days of hire:
Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Peer Support Specialist Only:
Recovery Mentor Certification - Within 30 days of hire:
American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for Health Care Provider - 1 year providing peer support services.
- 1 year SUD only:
Experience working with people with substance use disorders.
- Within 60 days of hire:
Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Peer Support Specialist Only: CADC I (Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor) - Experience working with patients with chronic, acute and contingent crisis.

Work Location:
Providence Newberg Medical Ctr-Newberg (ON‑SITE) | Pay Range: $22.44 - $34.33 (plus possible shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, bonuses).
