Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.

Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently at the check lane.

Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as cash, checks, credit, debit, SNAP EBT, offline SNAP EBT, WIC, rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.

Adhere to company limits on cash shortages or overages and work honestly to control loss.

Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (alcohol, tobacco, DVDs).

Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.

Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons where applicable.

Stay updated on current, upcoming, seasonal, and special ads.

Comply with all food safety regulations and guidelines.

Reinforce safety programs by following safety procedures and reporting unsafe conditions, accidents, or issues to management.

Inspect equipment regularly and notify relevant departments of repairs needed.

Create a welcoming environment, making customers feel valued by answering questions about products.

Follow all applicable laws and company policies.

Work cooperatively in a high-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

Manage conflicts in a reasonable, nonconfrontational manner.

Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.

Follow directions and seek assistance to resolve issues.

Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.

Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
