Primary Care Contract Manager - General Medical Services (GMS)

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board's Primary Care Contracting Team. We are seeking a highly motivated Band6 Contract Manager to join our Contracting Team, supporting the delivery of Primary Care Services, in particular General Medical Services across the Health Board.

As the Primary Care Contract Manager , you will play a key role in delivering safe, effective, and patient-centred primary care services. You will support a broad agenda focused on service improvement and robust contract management.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience working within Primary Care, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a flexible and proactive approach to managing challenges.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will act as the day-to-day contact for resolvingcomplexcontract management issues that arise within primary care.

This will involve providing and receivingcomplex,sensitiveorcontentious information where there are barriers to understanding or acceptance, which are overcome using developed interpersonal and communication skills. Thepost holderwilldemonstrateappropriate analyticalability, comprehension skills, intellectual capacity and knowledge of relevant contract/legislation, regulatory frameworks, performance management, clinical governance, and financial arrangements across, General Medical Services  and Prison Healthcare Services.

As such they will be responsible for collaborating and negotiating with contractors, service providers and professional committees to identify and achieve service development and improvement, evaluating through performance management and lead the production and delivery of specific plans and projects to meet the healthcare needs of the local population.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post;

Person Specification Qualifications and/or Knowledge
  • Educated degree level or relevant experience
  • Post graduate diploma or management qualification and/or equivalent experience in the primary care area
  • Must demonstrate commitment to learning and continuous development.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Primary Care contracts and how they are applied.
  • Knowledge of information and budgetary management.
  • Knowledge of Project Management
