Graduate Behaviour Mentor
Are you a university graduate interested in mental health and behaviour, or in positive reinforcement and helping to inspire young people with challenging behaviour? An alternative provision just outside Newbury is looking for a Graduate Behaviour Mentor to join the team on a full‑time basis, starting immediately and continuing until July 2026. You will support students aged 11‑18 with mental‑health needs and behavioural changes throughout the school day, helping them socially, emotionally and academically.
In this role you will provide both 1:1 and group support in the classroom under the guidance of the class teacher. You will help manage the students’ behaviour, develop appropriate social and emotional skills, and foster a positive and encouraging learning environment. You will play a crucial role by being a positive role‑model that students trust and can emulate, helping them thrive post‑education and live independently when they leave school.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate looking to gain experience working with difficult behaviour and mental health. It also serves as a stepping‑stone to a future in criminal justice or youth work, granting the skills needed by working hands‑on with challenging behaviour and hard‑to‑reach students. You will have networking opportunities with teachers, therapists and psychologists on‑site at the school.
To be successful you need to be ready for a challenge and have a high level of resilience. Experience working with children and/or adults with challenging behaviour would be beneficial, as would any experience in a school setting.
Full‑time, Monday to Friday, 08:30‑15:30
£85‑95 per day
