Reed Education is recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded Special Educational Needs school in Reading for a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join their team on a long-term basis, with the opportunity to secure a permanent position for the right candidate.
This specialist setting supports children and young people aged 2-19 with a range of complex special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), communication needs, sensory needs, and additional complex learning needs.
The RoleAs a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, build communication skills, and achieve their individual goals. You'll work closely alongside experienced teachers, therapists, and support staff within small class sizes, providing both classroom-based and personalised support.
Duties may include:
- Supporting pupils with complex learning needs and autism.
- Assisting with communication strategies, including visual supports and specialist approaches.
- Encouraging engagement in learning and social activities.
- Supporting personal development, independence, and life skills.
- Working as part of a multidisciplinary team including speech and language, occupational therapy, and physiotherapy professionals. avenue.rea
