What is the role responsible for?The apprentice would support cyclical finance activity, including month-end tasks, reporting on costs, journals, cost centre analysis, auditsupportand year-end work.
The apprentice will spend approximately 20% of their time studying and 80% in role. The apprenticeship is likely to suit either a school leaver starting at AAT Level 3 or someone with relevant finance experience or AAT Level 3 already completed who could start at Level 4.
What will you be doing day-to-day?Here are a few examples of what you could be involved with:
- Preparation of month end journals for accruals and prepayments
- Intercompany reconciliations
- Maintaining fixed asset register
- Updating monthly forex rates
- Monthly balance sheet reconciliations
In addition, you will also be involved in:
- Operational expenditure reporting (OPEX)
- Assisting with the year end and half year audits
The role will follow the finance team’s hybrid working pattern, with three office days per week, with core office days are Tuesday,Wednesday and Thursday.
What you’ll bringPotential candidate backgrounds include school/college leavers, graduates, or someone with experience in areas such as finance administration, purchase ledger or credit control. Someone who has completed AAT Level 3 and wants to progress to Level 4 would also suit.
You don’t need experience in everything listed—but we’re especially keen to hear from people with some of the following attributes:
- Passion for learning and self-development
- A strong interest in finance/accounting
- Confidence working with numbers and data
- Good time management and task prioritisation skills to ensure deadlines are met
- Able to communicate with all levels in an organisation, and to both finance and non-finance people
