West Berkshire Council is seeking two Waste Services Assistants to join our busy Waste Management team, reporting to the Principal Waste Officer (Operations). Both roles are offered on a fixed term basis, one for a period of 5‑month and the other for a period of 8‑month.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the effective delivery of waste and recycling services within our community.
The Role
As a Waste Services Assistant, you will be a first point of contact for our customers, providing essential support and assistance regarding waste and recycling enquiries. Your key responsibilities will include:
- Processing applications for waste services, including subscription services
- Handling customer enquiries, complaints and service requests
- Maintaining records and databases
- Supporting officers to carry out their duties
Please note that this advert covers two fixed‑term positions: one for 5 months and one for 8 months from the start date - Time limited project.
About YouThe ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in a customer service role, or similar environment
- An understanding of how to deliver excellent customer service
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office
- Willingness to cross‑train to assist with other team tasks when required
