Community Asset Lead
As Community Asset Lead, you will be responsible for the strategic development and operational oversight of SNG's community assets-including community centres-across our geography. You will play a central role in strengthening local partnerships, maximising social impact, and embedding sustainable, community led approaches. Our community assets are currently run and managed by third sector organisations, and you will be instrumental in deepening these relationships, building trust in our collaborations, and shaping new, innovative and sustainable models of community led delivery.
You’ll shape the future of social infrastructure across our new build and regeneration programmes influencing new-thinking and practice at scale - ensuring that every place we create is financially sustainable, supported by the networks, services, spaces and assets our communities need to thrive.
- Lead the identification, development and effective management of community assets across SNG regions.
- Develop and embed SNG's Community Asset Transfer policy and procedures.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key partners, stakeholders, community organisations and local businesses.
- Build key relationships with our Development/Regeneration teams to help shape creative approaches to the creation of financial independent, community led-community/social infrastructure across our new build and regeneration programmes.
- Work closely with the Social Enterprise Lead, Community Investment and Partnership Leads to maximise social investment opportunities, strengthen local capacity and deliver programmes aligned to SNG's Community Foundation and Corporate Plan objectives, using an asset-based community development approach.
- Coordinate cross-functional working with commercial property, legal, locality, and community investment teams to oversee lease/licence renewals, compliance, repairs coordination and stakeholder management.
- Monitor and evaluate performance outcomes, ensuring alignment with community investment objectives and recommending improvements where needed.
- Facilitate payments to lease/licence holders and manage associated budgets effectively.
- Identify and secure external funding and social investment opportunities in partnership with internal colleagues and fundraising specialists.
- Promote effective place-based working by fostering strong relationships with residents, stakeholders and local groups.
- Work with community organisers and customer engagement teams to facilitate meetings, workshops and focus groups that amplify customer voice.
- Utilise SNG communication channels to share impactful stories that showcase community assets and initiatives.
- Represent SNG as an ambassador and thought leader at events, meetings and networks.
- Prepare quarterly performance reports for senior management and present findings to stakeholders, customers and funders as required.
- Record and manage community asset and social impact data, ensuring accuracy and accessibility (including reporting through Power BI).
- Promote a positive culture of building safety and compliance, escalating concerns appropriately.
- Embed social impact and outcomes recording frameworks across relevant directorates.
- Ensure community spaces are accessible, sustainable and maximise positive social outcomes.
- Proven experience managing and developing community assets within a community investment or place-based setting.
- A strong commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
- Excellent operational management skills, with the ability to balance strategic oversight and local delivery.
- A solid understanding of place-based working and asset-based community development.
- Strong partnership and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Demonstrable project management experience, including planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation.
- High levels of organisation and digital literacy, including database management and social media.
- The ability to communicate impact through engaging storytelling and marketing content.
- Experience in bid writing and securing external funding (desirable).
- Experience managing budgets (desirable).
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
