Plant Accountant

We are partnering with a manufacturing company in Newburyport, MA looking to add a Senior Accountant to their team. This role will focus on cost accounting, standard costing, manufacturing variance analysis, and month-end close.

• Perform cost variance analysis and investigate the drivers behind manufacturing variances
• Manage and maintain standard costing processes
• Support and execute the month-end close process
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Participate in and oversee inventory counts
• Support budgeting and forecasting activities
• Analyze manufacturing costs and provide meaningful financial insights to plant management
• Partner with plant leadership and the Accounting team on financial and operational performance
• Identify opportunities to improve cost accounting processes and financial reporting

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 4-8 years of accounting experience
• Strong manufacturing industry experience required
• Solid cost accounting experience required
• Experience with standard costing and variance analysis
• Inventory accounting and physical inventory count experience
• Experience supporting budgeting and forecasting
• Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience preferred
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
