Job PurposeThe CNC Machinist will operate CNC lathe and/or mill machines to support manufacturing based on skillset and shop demand. Vulcan Forms operates in an environmentally controlled, state‑of‑the‑art facility committed to producing high‑quality parts for our clients. This position is shift‑based on the 1st shift.
Key Responsibilities- Operate a CNC lathe (including work holding, kitting of tools, touching off of tools/establishing offsets, reading manufacturing drawings, and first‑article buy‑off) on FANUC, Yasnac, Mitsubishi, and controls.
- Operate a CNC 3‑, 4‑, or 5‑axis mill (including work holding, kitting of tools, touching off of tools/establishing offsets, reading manufacturing drawings, and first‑article buy‑off) on Fanuc, Yasnac, Brother, and Heidenhain controls.
- Utilize a pre‑setter offline for tool offsets (plus).
- Utilize quick‑change tooling (plus).
- Set up, edit programs, and run machines within the department.
- Periodically inspect parts during production to monitor consistent dimensional and visual quality.
- Continuously monitor equipment and tooling, and report any breakdown or event that would disrupt the process.
- Follow instructions on the process sheet, drawings, and/or programs.
- Support training of junior team members on all aspects of machining.
- Help others identify issues and troubleshoot their work.
- Interface and communicate with Quality, Engineering, and other team members.
- Maintain a clean, orderly work area and follow prescribed safety regulations.
- 4+ years of experience with 3‑, 4‑, and 5‑axis CNC milling centers, 2‑axis and multi‑axis live‑tooling lathes, and the controls listed in the key responsibilities.
- Ability to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Adherence to and enforcement of the company’s health & safety policies and procedures.
- Adherence to and enforcement of the company’s quality policies and procedures.
- Good hand/eye coordination.
- Graduate of Advanced Machine Technology Course.
- Knowledge of 5S/6S.
- Hourly pay range varies by level. Final level and compensation determined based on experience.
- Level 1: $20.00 – $25.00
- Level 2: $24.48 – $30.60
- Level 3: $28.00 – $35.00
- Level 4: $30.00 – $37.00
