7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Work Days: Monday to Friday

$25.00 /hr – $30.00 /hr

As a Wastewater Treatment Operator, you’ll be a key player in ensuring safe operations within a Grade 3 Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plant in accordance with state, federal and city rules and regulations. If you thrive in a hands‑on environment and enjoy troubleshooting wastewater challenges, this role is for you.

• Monitor wastewater treatment plant operations.
• Collect samples, test, and record findings on Daily Lab Worksheet.
• Monitor operation of all pumps and warehouse lift station pumps.
• Monitor and adjust mix down units at proper concentration of polymers.
• Monitor and adjust GEM unit as needed.
• Monitor and adjust pH adjustment in D‑Loop system.
• Ensure proper operation of all components of system and S .
• Determine need for chemical adjustment to system.
• Adjust pumping rates and/or manually add chemicals to system as needed.
• Monitor chemical supply.
• Change barrels and/or mix chemical concentrates with water as needed.
• Add nutrients to Mixed Liquor tanks as directed.
• Check for presence of microscopic life in mixed liquor.
• Make daily entries to Wastewater Treatment Log Book.
• Record daily flow data on Daily Flow Worksheets.
• Perform laboratory testing (including: BOD, TSS, COD, DO, pH, Turbidity).
• Calibrate pH meters using 2‑pt buffer method.
• Change circular chart on Partlow Controller on a weekly basis.
• Perform preventive maintenance functions (including greasing motors, etc.) per schedule.
• Assist maintenance personnel in repair functions.
• Maintain clean and safe working conditions.
• Perform related duties as required.

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Massachusetts Wastewater Treatment Operator’s License, Grade 3 Municipal (minimum). License is achieved via state exam and maintained with 10 TCHs per year.
• First Aid, CPR, and Bloodborne Pathogens certification required, or must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 60 lbs.
• Ability to climb and descend up to three flights of stairs while carrying work materials.
• Ability to work in environments with strong or unpleasant odors.
• Ability to perform tasks requiring fine motor skills, manual dexterity, and hand‑eye coordination.
• Ability to work independently.

• Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, crouch, and climb steps.
• Frequently required to use hands and fingers to handle or use objects, tools or controls.
• Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to lift or carry 60 lbs; assistance must be utilized for anything over 50 lbs.
• Ability to do overhead lifting and bending.
