Position: Lecturer in English (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

Lecturer in English (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

Location:

Newcastle (one evening) – 0.5 fte (18.5 hours) – Salary: £32,136 – £42,848 pro rata

Location:

Stafford (hourly paid) – 3 hours, Tuesday Evening – Salary: £25.38 per hour

Responsibilities
  • Teach English to speakers of other languages on discrete adult courses, including qualification and non‑qualification.
  • Play an active role in marketing and community awareness of ESOL through activities such as open days, taster sessions and liaison with local employers.
  • Engage in core duties including preparation, marking, monitoring student progress, preparing reports, setting and marking of examination papers, developing and preparing flexible learning materials.
  • Be involved in marketing of the College, Faculty and Department.
Required Skills and Experience
  • Has a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline.
  • Teaching qualification (PGCE or DTTLS) or willingness to obtain.
  • Is ESOL trained and able to teach Academic English.
  • Is well organised and able to manage the peaks and troughs of a varied workload.
