Nurse Consultant Learning Disabilities - Band 8B (Subject to Job Evaluation)
We are seeking an experienced, forward‑thinking Nurse Consultant Learning Disabilities to provide expert clinical leadership and highly specialised interventions across Adult and Child community services, as well as our inpatient unit. Working autonomously, you will deliver high‑quality, person‑centred nursing care, lead specialist clinics, and undertake advanced holistic assessments for individuals with complex LD and mental health needs. A key part of the role is to drive the development and delivery of evidence‑based practice, ensuring the ongoing implementation of clinical pathways, quality improvement and transformational change.
Responsibilities- Lead specialist clinics and provide expert consultancy, clinical supervision and education to practitioners, students, and wider MDT colleagues.
- Act as a system leader, modelling excellence in clinical decision making and championing high standards of care across services.
- Deliver advanced holistic assessments for individuals with complex learning disabilities and mental health needs.
- Drive the development and delivery of evidence‑based practice, ensuring implementation of clinical pathways, quality improvement, and transformational change.
- Collaborate closely with statutory, voluntary and community partners, contribute to multi‑agency groups and strengthen integrated care.
- Ensure the lived experience, co‑production, and the voice of people with learning disabilities and their families are embedded in service design, delivery and evaluation.
- Provide clinical leadership through the development and delivery of the highest level of clinical practice within the Specialist Directorate.
- Sustain productive partnerships with universities and other education organisations and develop education programmes to meet identified learning needs at the directorate and organisational level.
