Health Care Assistant

Lyme Valley Practice is looking for someone with commitment and passion to provide a first-class service to our patients and to work within our friendly clinical team as a Health Care Assistant. This is a full time post of 17 hours to be worked are:

• Friday 12:30pm - 5:00pm

Interviews will be held Wednesday 8th April 2026.

As a Health Care Assistant, you will be required to undertake patient health checks and a range of other clinical appointments. Further details are shown within the job description.

Lyme Valley Practice is a traditional general practice located in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Staffordshire. We offer a supportive working environment, NHS pension and are looking for someone with dedication and enthusiasm to join our friendly clinical team as a Health Care Assistant.

The Health Care Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurse and strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols, the Health Care Assistant will assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

Duties and

Responsibilities include:

• A range of health checks
• ECG recording
• Blood pressure monitoring
• Wound care
• Weight management
• Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
• Summarising of paper records and read coding of clinical letters
• Sterilising, cleansing and maintenance of surgical equipment
• Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
• Ordering of clinical stocks and equipment
• Managing clinical waste
• Surgical equipment and vaccine re-stocking and stock rotation
• Cleaning and re-stocking consulting rooms

• Qualifications:
• General education (eg GCSEs) to grade C or above
• Proof of commitment to professional development
• Experience:
• Dealing with the public/patients
• Knowledge/

• Willing to develop clinical skills and competency relevant to the role
• Able to communicate routine information that requires tact and persuasive skills, or where there may be barriers to understanding
• Able to organise own time and workload and cope with last minute changes

• National Vocational Qualification Level 2

• Experience of working in a General Practice setting
• Experience of a GP Clinical System Previous phlebotomy experience
