Job Overview

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Stock Controller to manage and maintain accurate inventory levels across our warehouse/store operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring stock movements, conducting inventory checks, investigating discrepancies, minimizing losses and overstocking, and ensuring products are available when needed. The role will involve liaising with the Engineering department, keying requirements onto the ERP system and supporting the Procurement department for the first six months.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor stock levels and maintain accurate inventory records
  • Work with Engineering to review requirements and key them onto the ERP system
  • Receive, inspect, and record incoming deliveries
  • Track stock movements including transfers, returns, and adjustments
  • Conduct regular stock counts and cycle counts
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies
  • Ensure stock is stored safely and organized efficiently
  • Work closely with purchasing, warehouse, and sales teams to forecast stock needs
  • Prepare inventory and stock reports for management
  • Maintain compliance with company procedures and health and safety standards
  • Support audits and assist with stock reconciliation processes
  • Support the Procurement department with day-to-day activities
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • Previous experience in stock control, inventory management, warehouse operations, Purchasing or a similar role
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good numerical and analytical skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and inventory management systems
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills
  • Forklift licence (desirable, if applicable)
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English preferred
  • Relevant warehouse or inventory qualifications are advantageous but not essential
