Accounting Manager, Tax Accountant
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Overview
We are looking for a Business Advisory (Accounts) Senior or Supervisor to join our team in Newcastle. The role focuses on accounts preparation (management and year end), liaising with tax staff to meet client deadlines, and flagging issues to the Manager at an early stage.
Responsibilities- Ensure that allocated Business Advisory work including preparation of statutory accounts, both personal and corporate tax computations, VAT returns and management accounts, is handled effectively and correctly from start to finish in line with the Firm’s policies and processes.
- Arrange the timing of the tax and other business line work with the manager responsible for the client.
- Engage with the relationship manager and staff from other business lines to gain a good understanding of the business.
- Liaise directly with clients to build relationships and plan your own work to meet deadlines.
- Monitor budgeted versus actual time spent, and flag issues and overruns to the manager on a timely basis.
- Keep the Manager informed of issues that will affect the budget and the fee.
- Keep the client’s staff informed of progress and issues while maintaining confidentiality.
- Complete the accounts file and all required documentation.
- Assist managers with reviewing work prepared by junior staff.
- Support assistants in the team through delegation, coaching, training and feedback; and help them plan workloads and develop time management skills.
- The preparation of complex assignments and review of work within your allocated portfolio.
- Supporting assistants in delegation of appropriate work, coaching, training and feedback.
- Liaising directly with clients and planning your own work to meet deadlines.
- Assisting in planning workloads and developing time management skills.
- Qualified or near to completing AAT, CA, ACCA or equivalent qualification. Consideration will also be given to applications from individuals with strong experience but no professional qualification.
- Strong IT skills and experience in using accounting packages.
- Tax experience would be an advantage.
- Good working knowledge of clients’ accounting systems such as Sage, Xero and Quick Books.
- The ability to work remotely carrying out Business Advisory work for other JC offices.
- Candidates must have the right to work in the UK permanently and without any restrictions. We are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
