Nomad Digital is currently looking for a Project Accountant to join the business on a part‑time basis (0.6 FTE) in our Newcastle Office. This global role supports the business in driving accurate cost collection and margin improvement through reporting and analysis of project costing, and requires responsibility for a portfolio of project accounts and application of revenue recognition methodology across the group.

Job Purpose
  • Oversee and manage all financial aspects of a portfolio of projects, from initial bid submission to project closure.
  • Track all project invoicing, costs & cash flow versus budget, and report on variances.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to maintain the project Estimate at Completion, margin, and project risks & opportunities.
  • Apply revenue recognition methodology in accordance with IFRS 15.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Act as a business partner for and provide strong operational support to project managers, advising on best practice procedures and accounting principles.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate monthly project accounts for a portfolio of O&M & Delivery projects across the group within set deadlines, ensuring adherence to IFRS 15.
  • Prepare project budgets/forecasts when required, monitoring adherence to budget commitments and cash milestones.
  • Deliver timely and accurate monthly reconciliation of WIP and POA to the ERP system.
  • Drive continuous improvement and efficiency in reporting and tools through education and effective communication to the project teams.
  • Approve purchase orders in line with Delegation of Authority.
  • Perform ad hoc responsibilities as required.
  • Adhere to the principles of all Nomad Values, Health & Safety guidelines and Ethics practices.
  • Support the sales and bid teams in preparing bid cost models and assisting in tender sign‑off processes, ensuring internal controls and commercial approvals are adhered to.
  • Manage all KPI reporting for Programme Leads, delivering on a regular basis in line with reporting schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with all project accounting and regulatory policies, including revenue and cost recognition and local government accounting policies.
  • Challenge cost forecasts and drive margin protection and improvement plans in close collaboration with project managers.
  • Advise and drive margin improvements through reporting and analysis of project costing, and activate changes as necessary.
Qualification & Experience Requirements
  • High performing finance professional seeking a move into project accounting.
  • Professional qualification (CIMA, ACA, ACCA) or equivalent.
  • Degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting and budgeting principles.
  • Exposure to long‑term contract accounting (preferred but not essential).
  • Experience in competitive tendering (an advantage but not essential).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel.
  • Experience with an ERP system (Net Suite an advantage).
