Join our reception team at Mallard Medical Practice, a small and friendly GP surgery dedicated to providing exceptionalhealthcare to our community. As a receptionist here, you'll play a vital rolein being the initial contact for our patients. You will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of reception duties and the provision of general support to the multidisciplinary team. Duties can include, but are not limited to, greeting and directing patients, effective useof the appointment system, booking appointments, the processing of information and assisting patients as required.
Mainduties of the job
You will act as the central point of contact for patients, be responsible for the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team, liaise with multi-disciplinary team members and external agencies such as secondary care and community service providers.
About usWe are a friendly and welcoming GP Practice in the heart of Killingworth, North Tyneside. The practice has a population of little over 5,500 registered patients. We have a small admin/reception team, 5 GPs who are supported by an excellent multi-disciplinary team of a Nurse, a HCA, a Nurse Associate, and a clinical pharmacist. The practice teaches medical students from Newcastle and Sunderland University.
Jobresponsibilities
The following are the core responsibilities ofthe Receptionist. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
Maintain and monitor the practice appointment system
Processpersonal, telephone and e-requests for appointments
Answerincoming phone calls, transferring calls or dealing with the callers request appropriately
Signpostpatients to the correct service
Initiating contact with and responding to, requests from patients, team members and external agencies
Codedata on the clinical IT system
Photocopydocumentation as required
Dataentry of new and temporary registrations and relevant patient information as required
Inputdata into patients healthcare records as necessary
Directrequests for information, i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLAforms to the administrative team
Manageall queries as necessary in an efficient manner
Carryout system searches as requested
Maintaina clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
Monitor and maintain the reception area and notice boards
Support all clinical staff with general tasks as requested
Person Specification Qualifications- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
- GCSE Mathematics and English (C or above)
