Medical Secretary

Role Overview

The position is a Medical Secretary/MDT Coordinator role within the Diabetes and Endocrinology Secretarial team at University Hospitals North Midlands NHS Trust. The post holder will be based at a UHNM site and will work alongside a consultant and the MDT coordinator.

• Support the delivery of a comprehensive administrative service, including inpatient and outpatient waiting list management for a speciality.
• Act as a medical secretary to consultants, communicating appointments and admission‑related information to patients and carers.
• Type correspondence within performance targets.
• Provide support for the MDT Coordinator and the Team Leader Medical Secretary.
• Perform general office duties such as typing letters, clinic alterations, answering telephone calls, and using software packages such as Microsoft Office, Careflow, iPortal.

• Experience with UHNM hospital systems (Careflow, e‑referrals, iPortal).
• Experience with Microsoft Office packages.
• Clinical typing experience.
• Understanding of clinics and appointments.
