Equans Generalist Graduate Scheme Overview

The world around us is changing rapidly, placing an increased demand on growing services sectors to become net zero. We are looking for the next generation of graduates who will continue to innovate across different areas of our business and support the energy, digital, and industrial transitions of our customers. As an Equans graduate, you will have the exciting opportunity to experience the diverse and interesting world of one of the UK’s biggest facilities management organisations.

Starting in September 2026, you will join our induction with all the other graduates in your cohort to start building your network and understanding of the Business before your specific placement commences. During your scheme, you will experience operational and functional roles alongside our Operational teams. Your time on the graduate scheme will span across a 2-year period, and you will complete between two to four rotations of either 6 or 12 months in length depending on the project type and department.

You will need to be fully mobile as the placements could be based anywhere within the UK and graduates might need to relocate depending on the placement locations.

We’re looking for the next generation of talented individuals, with graduates aspiring to become the leader of their field! Our Operational teams deliver an incredibly wide range of services to our clients all over the country. You could be a part of the largest facilities management contracts in the UK where we work in partnership with some of the UK’s biggest hospitals or help to mobilise our newest contract wins.

A life in Operations is never dull, and as a graduate, you will gain experience of what it takes to work alongside large, diverse teams in a fun and rewarding industry.

You will have a passion for putting the customer first, working in teams and constantly looking to improve and innovate. Over the course of your graduate scheme, you will gain an understanding of how we support our customers and how to deliver innovative solutions to our communities and clients.

As a graduate on the generalist pathway, you will typically complete 4 x 6-month rotations to explore various areas of the business and become as rounded as possible before specialising at the end of the scheme.

In your first year of the scheme, you will build a solid foundation of skills and knowledge. You will complete one placement on-site with our operational teams, such as in a hospital or on a university contract, and one placement in an operational support service function role such as Business Development, Finance, Procurement, Digital Transformation or Mobilisation teams.

In your second year, depending on your strengths and interests, you may move onto one of our other pathways such as Operational Management and do a longer 12-month placement to gain more responsibility and experience. Or you may do another 2 x 6-month placements across operational and functional areas.

Over the course of the programme, you could gain exposure to:

  • Operational management
  • Commercial and Financial understanding
  • Developing Client Relations
  • Technical knowledge
  • Health, Safety, Environment and Quality delivery
  • Equans vision and purpose
  • Subcontractor and people management
  • Asset management

Over the graduate scheme, we will provide a wide variety of training opportunities to develop your skills so that you can excel in your role. You will gain exposure to different areas of the business and opportunities to increase your network.

We’re looking for people who are motivated to continue learning and are ready to take on new opportunities. You won’t be alone during the scheme; you will be supported to drive your development through structured placement reviews and regular meetings with the Early Careers team. From day one, you will have a buddy, usually a graduate in the year above, to share experiences with.

You will have the opportunity to join our mentoring scheme where you’ll have the chance to be mentored by a colleague who can share advice with you to support your career development. You…
