Overview

Are you ready to make an impact where resilience really matters? This is a unique opportunity to join DVSA in a critical role supporting the continuity of nationally important public services. As a Business Continuity & Resilience (BC&R) Officer, you will help ensure the organisation is well prepared for any disruptions, able to respond effectively to incidents, and equipped to make confident and well-informed decisions.

Working within the Assurance function, you will use BC&R insights from governance, risk, and control to support senior leaders across DVSA. You will act as a trusted adviser and constructive challenger to senior colleagues, by acting diplomatically and discreetly, helping the business understand BC&R risks, strengthen controls, and embed good BC&R culture in day-to-day activities and decision-making.

Why Join DVSA? You will join an organisation with a clear public purpose, where your work directly contributes to the safety, reliability, and continuity of essential services across Great Britain. Whether you come from the public or private sector, this role provides the opportunity to apply your skills in a high-impact environment that values professionalism, collaboration, and good judgement.

Benefits include:

  • Employer pension contribution of 28.97% of your salary. Read more about Civil Service Pensions here
  • 25 days annual leave, increasing by 1 day each year of service (up to a maximum of 30 days annual leave), plus 8 bank holidays
  • Flexible working options that support a healthy work-life balance
Responsibilities
  • Support the design and embed delivery of BC&R arrangements across the agency.
  • Help maintain a robust BC&R framework aligned to ISO 22301, government standards, and departmental policy.
  • Provide clear, practical advice and work collaboratively with teams and senior stakeholders to ensure critical services are protected and resilient.
  • Play an active role in incident management, supporting incident responses at Bronze, Silver, and Gold levels.
  • Champion a positive assurance culture, promoting transparency, pragmatism, and continuous improvement.
Disability Confident

A Disability Confident employer will generally offer an interview to any applicant that declares they have a disability and meets the minimum criteria for the job as defined by the employer. It is important to note that in certain recruitment situations such as high-volume, seasonal and high-peak times, the employer may wish to limit the overall numbers of interviews offered to both disabled people and non-disabled people.
