Portfolio Payroll is partnering with a well‑established organisation in the manufacturing sector to recruit a Payroll Team Leader on a full‑time, permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced leader to join a respected organisation offering stability, development, and a genuinely supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities- Team leadership – Manage and oversee day‑to‑day activities across Payroll, Pensions and Benefits, ensuring accurate and timely processing in line with UK legislation.
- Workload management – Review team effectiveness, ensure SLAs/KPIs are met, and lead ad‑hoc/project work aligned to customer expectations.
- Process improvement – Review, implement and maintain efficient procedures, driving continuous improvement across payroll operations.
- Subject matter expertise – Act as the expert in your activity area, coaching and guiding colleagues across wider teams.
- Service excellence – Ensure all activity is completed in line with statutory requirements and Equans processes.
- Audit coordination – Lead monthly audit activity and ensure timely sign‑off.
- Process mapping – Lead transformation sessions and implement improvements with the Payroll Manager and HR Operations.
- Documentation ownership – Maintain accurate, fit‑for‑purpose process documentation incorporating stakeholder feedback.
- Coaching & development – Motivate, lead and coach the team, providing feedback, development support and hands‑on guidance when required.
- Stakeholder engagement – Build strong relationships across Business Services, HR, IT, Finance and Operational teams
- Previous team leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong understanding of pension regulations and reporting
- Strong understanding of GDPR
- Excellent attention to detail and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- SAP experience (desirable)
- Salary up to £40,000 will flex DOE
- Hybrid working – 2 days in the office
