The Opportunity
We are working with an established British manufacturing business with an international customer base, specialising in electrical protection and fusegear products.
Due to continued growth and development of their product portfolio, they are looking to appoint an experienced Product Manager - Fusegear.
This is a newly created position offering the opportunity to take ownership of an established product portfolio and have a genuine influence on its future direction, development and growth.
This is not simply a product coordination role. You will be responsible for product strategy, portfolio management, market intelligence and product lifecycle management, working closely with customers, commercial teams, R&D, engineering, manufacturing and quality.
The Role
You will take ownership of the product portfolio across LV and MV fusegear, managing products throughout their complete lifecycle from introduction and growth through to maturity and rationalisation.
Key responsibilities will include:
Develop and own the product strategy and portfolio roadmap.
Identify opportunities for new products, product variants and product improvements.
Determine where products should be developed, grown, standardised or rationalised.
Conduct market and competitor analysis to understand customer requirements and market positioning.
Visit customers and engage with the market to identify current and future product requirements.
Translate customer and market feedback into clear product requirements and development priorities.
Work closely with R&D and engineering teams throughout product development and modification.
Define product requirements and support technical development, testing and validation.
Own product roadmaps and support successful product launches.
Support pricing, cost optimisation and margin improvement initiatives.
Provide product expertise to sales teams, distributors and customers.
Attend customer meetings, exhibitions and industry events.
Work closely with manufacturing, quality and supply chain teams on product performance, cost and delivery.
Support product standardisation, engineering changes and portfolio rationalisation.
About You
We are looking for an experienced Product Manager, Product Line Manager, Portfolio Manager or Technical Product Manager who has developed their career within switch gear, fusegear, circuit protection or electrical protection products.
You will ideally have:
Proven experience within switch gear, fusegear or electrical protection.
Strong understanding of LV and MV products and their applications.
Experience managing a product portfolio or product line within a manufacturing environment.
A proven track record in product strategy and lifecycle management.
Experience developing product roadmaps based on customer and market requirements.
Strong customer-facing and commercial skills.
Experience working closely with R&D, engineering and manufacturing teams.
The ability to understand technical requirements and translate them into commercially viable product solutions.
Experience assessing competitors, market opportunities and product positioning.
Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills.
A strategic mindset combined with the ability to understand technical detail.
The confidence to challenge existing thinking and introduce new ideas.
A proactive, analytical and results-focused approach.
An engineering qualification in Electrical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering would be advantageous.
Experience with electrical standards, testing and certification would also be beneficial.
Why This Role?
This is a newly created Product Management role, giving you the opportunity to make a genuine impact rather than simply manage an established roadmap.
You will have the scope to influence decisions around:
Product strategy and future development
New product opportunities
Market and customer requirements
Portfolio growth
Product standardisation
Product lifecycle and rationalisation
