Quantity Surveyor

Overview

A well-established regional construction contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of projects across the South Coast, operating from a Portsmouth base. The role will involve working on 2-3 live projects at a time, with individual values up to £7m, across commercial, industrial, education, and retirement living sectors.

• You will be responsible for the commercial management of projects from pre-construction through to final account, working closely with the Contract Manager and site teams.
• Cost planning, budgeting, and commercial reporting
• Managing subcontractor procurement, valuations, and payments
• Pricing variations and managing change control
• Preparing monthly cost value reconciliations and forecasts
• Supporting contract administration and final account agreement
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
• Assisting with tendering and pre-construction pricing where required

Essential:

• Qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
• Experience with in a main contractor environment
• Knowledge of JCT contracts
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
• Full UK driving licence

Desirable:

• Experience on commercial, education, industrial, or residential/retirement projects
• Experience managing projects up to £7m
• Good communication skills and a proactive approach
