Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

This is a great opportunity to work across multiple different clients in a range of industries, championing the value of User-Centred Design as part of delivery best practice across all digital products and services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create high-quality content (both micro- and long-form) that is clear, easy to understand, and accessible for all audiences across multiple platforms and devices.
  • Lead and align content design activities, ensuring teams take a user-centred, evidence-based approach to design and delivery.
  • Use data and research findings to inform content decisions.
  • Ensure content accuracy by working closely with Subject Matter Experts.
  • Collaborate with other teams and specialisms, such as UX Designers, User Researchers, and Developers.
  • Understand user journeys and the role UX writing plays in improving them.
  • Report on and present work, both internally and to client partners.
  • Take an evidence-led approach, continuously improving long-form and micro-content based on user feedback, analytics, and industry best practices to improve usability, engagement, and conversion rates.
  • Ensure content follows all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including accessibility standards, privacy laws, and industry regulations.
  • Work independently, to a high standard, as the sole UX Writer within a Scrum/Agile team.
Essential Skills and Experience
  • Previous experience in a UX Writer or Content Design role (leveraging User-Centred Design principles).
  • Experience working with the Government Digital Service (GDS) design principles.
  • Proven experience advocating for User-Centred Design.
  • Experience negotiating with and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working with brand tone of voice guidelines, design patterns, and style guides.
  • Working in an Agile or similar multidisciplinary environment.
  • Using Markdown or HTML.
