Job Description & How to Apply Below

An opportunity has arisen for a part-time Multimedia Officer (Digital) in the Communications, Marketing and Design team. This part-time role is for 18.5 hours per week, worked across Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. WHAT IS INVOLVED? You will contribute to the council's social media strategy to support brand building by boosting visibility and engagement. You will also be responsible for content creation by developing a strategy, producing engaging social and video content, analysing usage data, filming, and managing projects and campaigns.

As a Multimedia Officer, you will:

  • Create and deliver engaging multimedia content, including video, photography and social media assets, across a range of digital platforms.
  • Manage the Council's corporate social media channels, including Facebook, X, Linked In and You Tube, ensuring content is timely, creative and aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Plan, schedule and publish content using social media management tools.
  • Produce, edit and enhance video content, including filming, sequencing footage, adding graphics, music and effects, and creating final cuts for a range of audiences.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on digital and social media performance using tools such as Google Analytics and platform insights, making recommendations to improve reach and engagement.
  • Conduct audience and competitor research to identify trends, opportunities and best practice.
  • Set and monitor social media targets to increase brand awareness, engagement and audience growth.
  • Manage and respond to social media interactions as required.
  • Support colleagues across the Council to maximise the effective use of social media and digital communications.
  • Manage budgets associated with multimedia and social media activity where required.
  • Keep up to date with emerging technologies, digital trends and industry best practice to continually improve content and performance.
You should have substantial relevant experience together with having experience of managing digital projects/campaigns and delivering a strong outcome in communications terms.

Ideally, we are looking for someone with proven experience in content creation and proficiency with editing software packages (e.g. Adobe Premiere Pro, Affect Effects, Cap Cut or Final Cut) to create engaging video for social media.

We offer a competitive rewards package that includes attractive salaries, a generous annual leave entitlement of 27 days (rising to 32 after five years' continuous local government service), membership of the excellent contributory career average Local Government Pension Scheme, and a range of flexible working arrangements including hybrid working (home and office) where applicable.
