Test Centre Associate

Job Overview

Pay Range: £13.45 per hour. Test Centre Associate – Newcastle. Join our DVSA programme to support prospective drivers with secure assessment of driving theory tests.

As a Test Centre Associate you provide excellent customer service to candidates, ensuring the integrity, security, and compliance of all tests in line with DVSA and company policies.

• Provide a high level of customer service to all candidates.
• Check candidate  and book them into the system.
• Ensure the integrity and security of tests are maintained.
• Supervise and invigilate tests.
• Explain the test process to candidates and support with other queries.
• Review test schedules and coordinate with the test centre.
• Perform daily opening and closing procedures for the test centre.
• Ensure the test centre meets individual candidate needs in line with the Equality Act and our diversity and inclusion approach.
• Handle and report incidents that could impact candidate testing.

• A full UK driving licence (driving not required for all locations).
• Significant demonstrable experience in customer service.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet short time‑scales, and multitask.
• Experience working with diverse customer groups.
• Excellent judgement and decision‑making skills.
• Flexibility in working hours and days, including evenings and Saturdays.
• Ability to remain calm and handle confrontational candidates professionally.

• Mornings – 8:30am to 1:00pm / 2:00pm
• Afternoons – 12:30pm / 1:00pm to 5:30pm / 6:30pm
• Full day – 8:30am to 5:30pm / 6:30pm
• Evenings – 4:30pm / 5:00pm to 8:30pm / 9:30pm
• Afternoon & Evenings – 12:00pm / 1:00pm to 8:30pm / 9:30pm

The Newcastle Theory Test Centre opens six days per week (Monday to Saturday). Applicants should be flexible to pick up shifts, especially evenings and Saturdays.
