CDM Principal Designer - Newcastle
An established and growing construction consultancy are currently seeking a capable and motivated CDM Principal Designer to join their Newcastle team.
This role offers exposure to a broad range of projects across the built environment, working with supportive senior professionals who are genuinely invested in developing their people.
Due to continued growth and a strong forward pipeline, they are now looking to appoint a CDM Principal Designer who is keen to progress, be upskilled, and build a long-term career within a professional and collaborative environment.
The CDM Principal Designer Role
The successful CDM Principal Designer will work across a varied portfolio of projects, supporting clients and design teams in discharging their duties under CDM 2015. The role offers hybrid working, clear structure, and strong mentorship for someone looking to strengthen their technical and professional capabilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for a CDM Principal Designer who wants more than just a compliance-led role and is keen to grow into a well-rounded safety professional with long-term progression prospects.
Duties of the CDM Principal Designer to include:
· Acting as CDM Principal Designer on a range of construction projects.
· Advising clients on their duties under CDM 2015.
· Planning, managing, and monitoring the pre-construction phase.
· Coordinating design risk management and ensuring risks are eliminated or reduced where possible.
· Reviewing design information to identify and address health and safety risks.
· Preparing and reviewing pre-construction information.
· Liaising with designers, clients, and other duty holders to ensure compliance.
· Supporting the development of internal processes and best practice.
The Person ?
The successful CDM Principal Designer will be someone who is keen to learn, develop, and take on increasing responsibility over time. This role would suit a CDM Principal Designer who values support, training, and structured career progression.
· Some experience within CDM, health and safety, or design risk management.
· A proactive and organised approach to work.
· Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with project teams.
· A desire to be upskilled and progress within a consultancy environment.
· An understanding of CDM 2015 or a strong interest in developing expertise in this area.
