Speciality Doctor - Anaesthetics
Routine work to actively engage and participate in the delivery of a safe and effective Anaesthetic Service at the University Hospital of North Midlands (Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital).
- Out of hours work on any of the rotas that you are deemed competent to provide cover for, with a frequency of 1:8.
- Participate in clinical governance and quality improvement activities in the department.
- Participate in teaching, training and supervision of anaesthetic trainees and medical students from Keele Medical School.
The post is for a Speciality Doctor in Anaesthetics who, in conjunction with 91 Consultants, 9 Specialist doctors, 21 Specialty doctors and 7 SAS doctors, will provide a comprehensive anaesthetic service to the University Hospital of North Midlands NHS Trust. The selected candidate will be responsible for providing and maintaining a safe, robust service and will have wide knowledge in all aspects of Anaesthesia.

You will be expected to work with local managers and professional colleagues in the efficient running of our services and share with consultant colleagues the medical contribution to management.
You will have responsibility for the work and supervision of junior medical staff who work with you and will devote time to this activity on a regular basis. If appropriate, you will be named in the contracts of doctors in training grades as the person responsible for overseeing their training and as the initial source of advice to such doctors on their careers.
They also contribute to the formal teaching programme of junior staff both within the specialty and the hospital as a whole, as well as contributing to the teaching programmes of the Undergraduate Medical School (Keele University) and other health professionals in the hospital.
