SEMH Behaviour Support Assistant – Newcastle

This SEMH primary role in Newcastle is all about being that steady, trusted presence who helps children feel understood—not judged.

You’ll be supporting pupils with social, emotional, and behavioural needs who may struggle with anxiety, frustration, or attachment. It’s meaningful, hands‑on work that genuinely changes lives.

What you’ll do each day:
  • Support pupils during lessons, breaks and transitions
  • Use trauma‑informed approaches and clear, consistent boundaries
  • Help pupils recognise their emotions and build positive coping skills
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral teams to keep learning accessible
  • Celebrate small but powerful steps forward
We’d love to hear from you if:
  • You’ve worked with SEMH, behaviour, or vulnerable young people
  • You can stay calm and consistent, even when pupils can’t
  • You’ve got empathy, patience, and resilience in equal measure
  • You believe every child deserves someone firmly in their corner
What we offer:
  • Weekly PAYE pay
  • Free online CPD and training opportunities
  • Roles across SEMH, PRU, and SEND settings
  • Genuine, human support from your consultant throughout
