Overview

Teaching Assistant (Learning Support Assistant)

Location:

High school in Carshalton

Salary:
Scale 3, Points 4–6: £24,801 – £25,510 pro-rata (£28,125 – £28,929 FTE), depending on experience

Hours:

36 hours/week, Term time + 2 weeks

Schedule:

  • Monday & Friday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
  • Tue, Wed, Thurs: 8:30am – 4:30pm

(Some flexibility required for interventions, as directed by the SENDCo)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support students with a range of learning needs. You'll work under the direction of the SENDCo and teaching staff to help students access the curriculum, develop independence, and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support students in lessons, small groups, or 1:1 settings
  • Encourage independence, social interaction, and inclusion
  • Help implement and monitor individual support strategies
  • Assist with classroom management and behaviour
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to annual reviews
  • Support literacy, numeracy, and other learning programmes
  • Prepare learning materials and displays as needed
  • Supervise students during breaks, trips, and school activities
General Duties
  • Uphold safeguarding, confidentiality, and school policies
  • Promote equality, inclusion, and the school's values
  • Attend meetings, training, and performance reviews
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals
  • Assist with invigilation and specialist support (e.g. EAL, ELSA, ASDAN)
