Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
To lead, coordinate, and develop inclusive learning practices and wider skills support, ensuring all learners are fully supported to achieve their potential, whilst meeting funding and compliance requirements.
The Inclusion and Learning Support Lead will be a strategic lead and will champion inclusive practices across the entire learning provision, embedding accessibility and differentiation, and ensuring staff are confident in supporting learners with diverse needs.
Key Responsibilities1. Inclusion and Learner Support
- Lead the development and implementation of an inclusive learning strategy across the business.
- Coordinate and oversee the provision of wider skills, ensuring accurate identification, documentation, and delivery of support in line with funding guidance.
- Manage and monitor support plans and reasonable adjustments for learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities.
- Promote a culture of inclusivity and accessibility across all teaching, assessment, and learner engagement activities.
- Liaise with external agencies, trainers, and employers to ensure consistent and appropriate support for learners in the workplace.
- Analysis of wider skill learner and support data to provide monthly management reports, as part of operational meetings.
- Act as a key point of contact for learners and staff, ensuring their voices are heard and needs are met.

2. Functional Skills Lead
- Review and development of inclusive teaching strategies and differentiated resources.
- Overseeing the teaching delivery model to meet the diverse needs of learners, including those with learning difficulties, low confidence, or English as an additional language.
- Maintenance of learner progression data to provide a monthly management report as part of operational meetings.
3. Quality and Compliance
- Ensure the wider skills processes meet DfE and Ofsted requirements, including evidence of impact and accurate recording.
- Contribute to self‑assessment reports, quality improvement plans, and audits relating to inclusion and wider skills.
- Lead employee training and CPD on inclusive teaching, neurodiversity, and reasonable adjustments.
- Monitor and liaise with operational leads/management team on learner progress and satisfaction, acting to close gaps in performance for learners receiving support.
4. Leadership and Collaboration
- Collaborate with learning delivery teams to embed inclusive practice throughout the learner journey.
- Act as the key contact for wider skills funding claims, evidence audits, and internal or external quality assurance processes.
5. Performance
- Ensure wider skills provision meets agreed benchmarks and performance measures.
- Drive continuous improvement in wider skill provision and learner outcomes.
- Proven experience in SEND, inclusion, Functional Skills or wider skill support.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practice in inclusive education.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to inspire and lead a team with empathy and high expectations.
By championing inclusion and high‑quality wider skills provision, you will help create a learning environment where every learner feels valued, supported, and able to succeed.
Educational and Professional Background- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Learning Support, Education, or equivalent is desirable, however the relevant industry experience is preferable.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship standards and vocational training frameworks, is desirable.
- Familiarity with DfE (Department for Education) rules on inclusive apprenticeships, including cognitive and learning assessments.
- Understanding of reasonable adjustments and how to apply them for learners with disabilities or learning difficulties.
- Assessment skills:
Ability to oversee learner needs have been clearly identified and tailored support plans in place and reviewed. - Inclusive pedagogy:
Ensure teaching methods are adaptive and inclusive for adult learners with varied backgrounds and support requirements. - Experience of strategies overcoming inclusion barriers for adult learners when accessing and progressing within training and development programmes.
- Conducting quarterly reviews and maintaining compliance with DfE regulations.
- Empathy and patience in supporting learners with barriers to education.
- Strong communication skills for liaising with management, employers, tutors, and learners.
- Organisational skills to manage caseloads and ensure timely interventions.
- Problem‑solving ability to address challenges in workplace‑based learning.
- Strong decision‑making skills to determine appropriate pathways.
