Milk Education are working on behalf of a specialist SEN school in Newcastle to recruit a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist autism provision for primary‑aged children. This is a full‑time role starting ASAP.
About the SchoolThis specialist setting supports primary‑aged pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated needs. The school provides a structured, nurturing environment where pupils are supported academically, socially and emotionally through tailored learning approaches.

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with Autism
- Support communication using visual timetables, PECS or Makaton (training can be provided)
- Assist pupils with emotional regulation and sensory needs
- Promote positive behaviour strategies in line with school policy
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families
- Help create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting children with Autism (in school, care or support settings)
- Is patient, resilient and empathetic
- Demonstrates a proactive and flexible approach
- Can build positive relationships with pupils and staff
Relevant qualifications in Teaching Assistant support, childcare, psychology or related fields are desirable but not essential.
