GSL Education are seeking dedicated Secondary Teachers to work in welcoming and supportive schools across Sunderland from September 2026. We are looking for teachers who can bring enthusiasm, adaptability, and strong subject knowledge into the classroom. Successful candidates will be passionate about supporting students both academically and personally, helping them develop confidence, independence, and a love for learning.
About the RoleAs a Secondary Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons across your specialist subject area while maintaining high expectations for learning and behaviour. You will play a key role in motivating students, monitoring progress, and creating an inclusive environment where every learner can succeed.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging and effective lessons
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
- Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all students
- Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback
- Promote positive behaviour and high standards of achievement
- Support students' academic, social, and emotional development
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and support staff
- Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
- Previous experience teaching within a secondary school setting
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills
- Strong subject knowledge and a passion for education
- Adaptable, professional, and committed approach
- Ability to motivate and inspire young people
- Team Teach training is a plus and would be highly advantageous
- Enhanced DBS certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
- Reliable and dedicated to achieving positive outcomes for students
