Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate, proactive and enthusiastic English Teacher to support the learning of pupils in one of our inspirational PRU Settings in Newcastle on a Temporary to Permanent basis, to start ASAP. This is a fantastic opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long-term, positive impact on their lives, progress and development.
About the Role- Planning and teaching engaging and informative English lessons that inspire pupils with a wide range of SEN and allow all pupils to make progress.
- Working with secondary aged pupils within a PRU setting who have SEMH of varying levels as well as challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis and in small intervention groups.
- Building positive relationships with pupils and Teaching Assistants to create excellent learning environments.
- Managing challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive and consistent manner.
- Differentiating lessons appropriately to suit the needs and learning styles of all pupils.
- Using varied methods of assessment to assess pupil progress.
- Displaying high levels of enthusiasm, energy and positivity when working with children.
- Working effectively with Teaching Assistants to ensure children receive the best possible educational experience.
- The role is based in an inspirational PRU setting in Newcastle.
- The School supports pupils across the Secondary School age range who have SEMH and have been temporarily excluded from mainstream School.
- Pay – Between £130-200 per day.
- Hours – 08:30-16:30.
- Contract – Temporary to Permanent Contract.
- Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service, but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you).
- English Teaching experience in either SEND, Primary or Secondary School settings within the UK.
- Strong Behaviour Management skills.
- Experience of utilising a range of methods to assess pupil progress.
- Strong KS3-KS5 English Subject Knowledge.
- Strong relationship‑building skills with an ability to build rapport.
- A positive and resilient attitude towards Teaching and work.
- A genuine passion for Teaching.
- Strong organisation and communication skills.
