We are looking for someone who can contribute to the teaching of property law. An ability to contribute to the teaching of one or more of the following subjects is essential – the Law of Succession, Land Law, the Law of Equity and Trusts. The position is available on either a Teaching and Research (T&R) or a Teaching and Scholarship (T&S) basis.
For those applying on the T&R track an established or emerging national/international research profile and a clear research trajectory is essential. Your research should engage with socially relevant and important questions that address current and future problems. Potential for engaging with the research funding landscape and/or potential for engagement with external stakeholders and partnerships to deliver real world impact and benefit.
For those applying on the T&S track, a legal professional qualification, professional practice experience in property law broadly defined and some relevant teaching experience is essential. A commitment to embedding professional skills development in the design and assessment of one’s teaching is desirable.

Key Accountabilities- Provide a high-quality teaching and learning experience for our students
- Supervise dissertation students at both undergraduate and postgraduate level (commensurate with experience)
- Mentor and support students throughout their studies in the role of academic adviser
- Set and mark assessment of modules in accordance with university standards and utilise on-line and digitised curricula and education frameworks
- Contribute to curriculum development
- Provide education for life, that engages, challenges and supports our students to discover and fulfil their potential both while they are studying with us and once they have graduated
- Conduct research that demonstrates international standards of excellence in terms of originality, significance and rigour
- Contribute to the research profile of Newcastle Law School by publishing high quality outputs
- Pursue external funding commensurate with experience
- Demonstrate impact by developing research-based solutions to real-world problems and engaging with external stakeholders to develop the impact of your work
- Supervise PGR (postgraduate research) students (commensurate with experience)
- Engage in subject, professional and pedagogic training, research and scholarship as required to enhance teaching and learning provision
