About the Role

An apprenticeship combines paid employment with structured training, designed to help you gain the knowledge, skills, and behaviours outlined in the apprenticeship standard, ultimately leading to a recognised qualification.

Responsibilities

The role holder will join the Academic Registry’s professional support team at Northumbria University, contributing to a wide range of administrative and organisational responsibilities in line with University policies and procedures. Duties may include:

  • Managing assessment processes
  • Providing guidance on academic regulations
  • Supporting examination boards
  • Coordinating programme handbooks
  • Assisting with quality reviews, committees, and University events

Develop a strong understanding of University and PSRB programme regulations and build effective working relationships with academic staff and institutional partners.

About the Team

The Academic Registry team is part of the Student, Library and Academic Services Team. Responsibilities include faculty academic support, apprenticeship academic support, quality support, and preparation for inspections and audits.

About You

To be successful you will have:

  • A willingness to learn how to organise and manage tasks, with support from your team and manager.
  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, engaging effectively with stakeholders.
  • Experience of working with IT packages, including Microsoft Office, Outlook for diary management, and SharePoint.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, contributing to a positive and collegial environment.
  • A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A Level 2 qualification or higher (e.g. 5 GCSEs A–C or equivalent) and relevant experience.

Training and Apprenticeship Details

Training provider:
Smart Training & Recruitment. Approximately six hours per week are devoted to training toward the qualification over an 18‑month apprenticeship. A workplace mentor will provide practical advice and guidance throughout the apprenticeship.
