Responsibilities

Initially, the role will focus on supporting a group of SEND children many of whom have EHCPs. The postholder will work alongside experienced LSAs, teachers and our SENDCO.

The postholder will be expected to be flexible and work additional hours to meet the needs of the school where required.

Qualifications
  • Experience of supporting learning in all Key Stages within the first school age range
  • Passion for creating a calm and purposeful learning environment
  • Experience of planning and delivering group learning sessions, including phonics
  • Successful, recent experience of supporting teaching and assessing learning
  • Positive working with parents and families and willing to participate in all aspects of school life
  • High expectations of children’s achievements and behaviour
  • Flexible, collaborative and successful team working
  • Innovative, creative and imaginative
  • Passion for working with children with additional needs, with good knowledge of best practice
  • Demonstrate empathy and patience, resourceful, energetic and enthusiastic, with a good sense of humour
  • Experience of working with the SENDCO and external agencies, and contributing to the assessment and documentation for pupils with SEND
  • Experience of teaching Forest School or outdoor learning to young children (advantageous)
  • Experience of teaching children with additional needs
  • This post is suitable for experienced HLTAs.
