Salary: £90 - £115 per day (Depending on Experience)

Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long-term | Part-time / Full-time

GSL Education are seeking compassionate, resilient, and proactive SEMH Teaching Assistants (TA) to support students across welcoming schools in Newcastle Upon Tyne
. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about helping pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs achieve their full potential.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant
, you will play a vital role in supporting students who may experience emotional or behavioural challenges, helping them engage positively with their learning and environment.

Your Role as an SEMH Teaching Assistant Will Include:
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support for students with SEMH needs
  • Supporting behaviour management and promoting positive behaviour strategies
  • Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning plans
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students
  • Supporting students' emotional regulation and social development
  • Working collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and SENCOs
  • Always following safeguarding procedures and school policies
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or behavioural needs
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to de-escalate challenging situations
  • A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach
  • Resilience and a proactive attitude
  • A relevant qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
