Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

Job Overview

Lecturer in Health and Social Care (0.6 FTE) at Newcastle College. The role involves delivering vocational Health and Social Care qualifications at Levels 2 and 3, supporting learners’ academic and personal development, and contributing to curriculum development.

Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver inclusive, high-quality lessons and learning materials tailored to diverse learner needs.
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to support learner progress and maintain accurate records of learner engagement.
  • Guide academic and personal development through tutorials and pastoral care.
  • Keep course content current and aligned with industry standards and contribute to curriculum development and quality assurance processes.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external partners to enrich the learner experience.
  • Promote and uphold safeguarding, equality, and health and safety policies.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • A relevant subject qualification (degree or equivalent).
  • A recognised teaching qualification.
  • Level 2 English and Maths (e.g. GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent).
  • The ability to plan and deliver effective, inclusive teaching for diverse learners.
  • Knowledge of subject-specific pedagogy and current teaching practices in further or higher education.
  • Clear communication and strong organisational skills.
  • Confidence using digital tools to support learning.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, and ongoing professional development.
  • Experience delivering vocational Health and Social Care qualifications at Levels 2 and 3 is advantageous.
  • Relevant industry experience within health, social care or a related sector is highly valued.
