The role

The School of Biomedical, Nutritional and Sport Sciences, part of our Faculty of Medical Sciences, is seeking to appoint a passionate and committed Lecturer in Food and Human Nutrition on a permanent basis.

The School is a lively, friendly community with research, innovation and teaching strengths across nutrition and dietetics, sport and exercise science and biomedical sciences. The School has seen significant growth and development in recent years including over £57 million investment in new state-of-the-art teaching and laboratory facilities located within the Dame Margaret Barbour Building and the Sports Centre.

As a Lecturer in the School, you will be significantly involved in the development and delivery of a range of high-quality teaching and learning activities to support primarily the AfN accredited BSc (Hons) Human Nutrition and BSc (Hons) Nutrition with Food Marketing programmes. There will also be opportunities to contribute to other UG and PG degree programmes within the School. As well as developing and delivering teaching activities, the role includes marking assessments, UG and/or PG project supervision, providing pastoral support and participating in the management and administration of the degree programme(s) as required.

The successful candidate will also be expected to make a significant contribution to research within the Human Nutrition and Exercise Research Centre ( ) and be able to demonstrate an independent research profile. We would particularly like to hear from applicants with expertise in any of our research strength areas which include nutrition and metabolic disease, brain health and brain ageing, childhood nutrition and nutrition and cancer.

Applicants will need a PhD in an appropriate discipline with some prior teaching experience.

  • Demonstrate impact by developing research-based solutions to real-world problems and engage with external stakeholders to develop the impact of your work
