Looking to bring your engineering experience into education?

The Supply Register is working in partnership with Newcastle College to recruit a Mechanical Engineering Lecturer on a full‑time permanent basis. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced engineering professionals or existing lecturers to join a well‑established Further Education environment delivering across engineering programmes and apprenticeships.

Whether you’re already teaching or looking to move into education from industry, full support and development will be provided.

The Role

As a Mechanical Engineering Lecturer, you will support learners across Level 2 and Level 3 engineering programmes, apprenticeships, and potentially Higher Education delivery depending on qualifications and experience.

  • Deliver engaging and industry‑relevant Mechanical Engineering lessons
  • Support practical and theory‑based learning across engineering programmes
  • Deliver across Level 2, Level 3, apprenticeships, and potentially HNC/HND provision
  • Plan and prepare inclusive and effective teaching sessions
  • Support learners with coursework, projects, and assessments
  • Monitor learner progress and provide constructive feedback
  • Promote safe working practices within workshop and classroom environments
  • Create a positive and professional learning environment
What We’re Looking For Essential Qualifications
  • Strong industry experience within Mechanical Engineering
  • Relevant engineering qualification
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to engage and support learners across a range of levels
  • Professional, flexible, and reliable approach
Desirable Qualifications
  • HNC/HND or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering
  • Teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, DET)
  • Experience delivering engineering education or apprenticeship training
  • Experience with in Further or Higher Education
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service
