Milk Education are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and supportive primary school in Newcastle upon Tyne, who are looking to appoint a Graduate Classroom Assistant to join their team from September.

This is a fantastic opportunity for graduates who are considering a career in teaching, educational psychology, speech and language therapy, social work or another child-focused profession. The Role:

As a Graduate Classroom Assistant, you’ll work closely with teachers and experienced support staff to help pupils thrive both academically and personally.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting pupils across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.
  • Delivering 1:1 and small group interventions.
  • Assisting children with a range of additional learning needs, including SEND.
  • Encouraging confidence, engagement and independence in the classroom.
  • Helping to create a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents.

No two days are the same, making this the perfect role for someone looking to develop valuable classroom experience before progressing into a career in education.

You will ideally have:

  • Experience working with children or young people through coaching, tutoring, mentoring, volunteering, childcare or youth work.
  • A positive, proactive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, resilience and a willingness to learn.
  • A genuine desire to make a positive impact in the classroom.
