Teaching Assistant

Overview

1:1 Teaching Assistant – Full‑time, Newcastle – September start.

This is a full‑time long‑term role supporting a pupil who is a wheelchair user. The pupil accesses the curriculum within the mainstream classroom, and you will work closely alongside them throughout the school day, providing encouragement, care, and personalised support to help them thrive.

• Support the pupil on a 1:1 basis, ensuring they can participate fully in all lessons.
• Provide encouragement, care and personalised assistance throughout the day.
• Build a positive relationship with the pupil and become a valued member of the school community.
• Collaborate with teachers and staff to facilitate the pupil’s learning and wellbeing.

• Experience supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis is preferred.
• Kind, patient and nurturing nature.
• Appropriate qualifications and training relevant to the role.
• Full and valid DBS check, enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service checked.
• Willingness to undertake or have undertaken child protection and prevent duty training.

• Full academic year until July 2027.
• Job security, with possible permanent placement.
• Pay rates inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
• Safeguarding checks performed in accordance with DfE guidance.
