Position: SEMH Behaviour Mentor upon Tyne (Full-Time)

SEMH Behaviour Mentor – Newcastle upon Tyne (Full-Time) Be the consistent, encouraging adult who helps young people feel understood and ready to move forward.

Protocol Education is recruiting a full-time SEMH Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist educational setting in Newcastle upon Tyne
. You'll support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs who may find school, relationships or emotional regulation challenging.

This role is about more than managing behaviour. You'll take the time to understand the reasons behind it, build positive relationships and help pupils develop practical strategies that support their learning and wellbeing. Some days will be challenging, but the progress you help create can be genuinely life-changing.

What you'll be doing
  • Building trusting and respectful relationships with pupils
  • Supporting learners during lessons and structured activities
  • Encouraging emotional regulation and positive decision-making
  • Using consistent behaviour strategies and clear boundaries
  • Supporting pupils during challenging moments
  • Using de-escalation techniques where appropriate

    Helping learners re-engage with education
  • Working alongside teachers, pastoral teams and specialist staff
  • Promoting resilience, independence and positive choices

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
