Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant – Newcastle upon Tyne (Full-Time)

Protocol Education is recruiting a full-time Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist SEND and SEMH setting in Newcastle upon Tyne
. This rewarding opportunity is ideal for a Psychology graduate looking to gain practical experience working with children and young people with additional learning, behavioural and emotional needs.

You’ll work alongside experienced teachers, pastoral teams and specialist professionals, helping pupils develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships while gaining invaluable school-based experience. Every day offers the opportunity to better understand child development, behaviour, emotional wellbeing and the barriers some young people face in education.

  • Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups
  • Promoting confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing
  • Helping pupils access learning activities
  • Supporting positive behaviour strategies and routines
  • Assisting with targeted interventions
  • Building professional and trusting relationships
  • Monitoring and reporting pupil progress
  • Working closely with teachers, pastoral teams and support staff
  • Encouraging independence and positive engagement in school life
What we're looking for

You’ll hold a Psychology degree and have a genuine interest in supporting children and young people.

You’ll also be:

  • Eager to learn and develop professionally

Previous experience working with children, young people or vulnerable adults is beneficial, but not essential. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are just as important.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
